A generic Grasshopper tool for export of geometry and information modell of anchors at different Levels of Developement (LODs) to IFC, using Geometry Gym.
This repository is associated with a manuscript of a journal article (submitted to Acta Geotechnica, under peer-review)
- Title: Building information modelling of tension supporting elements for ground reinforcement using parametric design

Jessica Ka Yi Chiu, Georg H. Erharter, Olav Roset et al. Building information modelling of tension supporting elements for ground reinforcement using parametric design, 22 January 2025, PREPRINT (Version 1) available at Research Square [https://doi.org/10.21203/rs.3.rs-4100713/v1]
The Grasshopper-script is developed using Rhino 7 Commercial, build 2023-09-24
It contains 133 objects, and depends on 3 plug-ins:
- ggRhinoIFC by Geometry Gym Pty Ltd (23.8.16.0)
- Pufferfish by Michael Pryor (2.9.0.0)
- LunchBox by Nathan Miller (2016.3.21.0)
This file will not load correctly unless the aforementioned plug-ins are installed.
We have tested to open the IFC-files under \IFC export using usBIM (free ware) and Trimble Connect. Some other BIM viewers may have problem visualising the line geometryies.
With Geomtry Gym, by using different IfcPropSet Names, the IFC model will be attached with different property sets. See example in figure below of appending IfcPropSets named "Maintenance 2023" and "Maintenance 2024" to existing IfcProSet named "LOD500 bolts"
