This project was started as simplistic proof of concept implementation of the vban protocol under linux.
It is maintained at a quite slow rate, because it is a spare time project.
With time, it seems that some people found it useful and some eventually started their own complementary tools (see Links section below).
This wiki's first intent is to have a flexible way to give some news and communicate with interested people. I will try to put some more useful infos too. If necessary, it will evolve to something more structured, eventually using the GitHub Projects feature.
- 2018-10-03: Added vban_sendtext, allowing, for instance, remote control of VoiceMeeter
- 2018-05-11: A few improvements about latency in alsa and jack backends
We have some ideas of improvements and new features. Don't hesitate to participate and propose yours (opening an issue is perfect) or give a feedback on proposals here.
- vban_send_text: allow piping from stdin
- implement jack backend for vban_emitter
- have better latency control for vban_emitter
- make the jack auto connect optional and better manage the jack daemon startup / stop
- improve log messages for all levels
- vban_to_midi / vban_from_midi: similar to receptor and emitter but for midi
- config file configuration, with multistream possibilities
- pulseaudio native sink / source implementations
- VBAN protocol page
- VBAN-manager: VBAN Manager is a simple web interface to manage VBAN for Linux
- vban-squeeze: play VBAN streams on your Squeeze devices
- vban2pipe: vban to named pipe receptor independent implementation
- vban-universal: a multi-OS application to receive and send streams
