Keeping your identity secure
Says Mike
If your identity is compromised, there isn't a lot we can do, because we won't know if it is you or an imposter trying to fix the situation. The best advice is be careful where you create, clone, or import your channel. That's one reason why we have both channel and site ratings. I'm open to ideas on how you take remedial action, but it's quite a challenging problem. We could fairly easily create a new key and distribute it, but the difficulty is in knowing that it is you, and that the imposter doesn't also get the new key. But with a new key is a new identity - you won't have the same xchan_hash, and that is your identity at the application level. This means all the permissions associated with you on the network might have to be re-done.
Takeaway: be careful what hubs you sign up to, what hubs you clone to, and keep your backup exported channel file secure as you would any other private key.
Ideally, run your own hub, if you're very concerned.
