in my defence the email link i opened only showed the most recent commit's diff and i thought it was for all commits...

Yes it wil do ( x secs/mins/hours/days/years ago), just like in !info, so it's easier to identify when the account was created. I think this would be especially helpful during the ice invasion

Also it doesn't humanize join date as it will always be (now)
