NCH and DM spent several hours reviewing the next stages of the DMP project. With due regard to external constraint milestones (resource allocation applications, staff resources in hand or applied for, and data release schedule) the following two broad strategic priorities were identified:
- migrating the deployment to a Kubernetes-based level (from the prototype Ansible-scripted approach on manually-configured OpenStack virtual clusters)
- development of a booking system front end for the service to load-balance and handle increased levels of interest as we approach the next major data release.
The following milestones/deliverables were identified and agreed:
- Q4 2023: more evidence-based resource request for IRIS RSAP (for 2024 allocation) incorporating results from testing on EIDF and Somerville clouds;
- end Q4 2023: a booking system V1.0 prototype at the "business logic" level including CLI functionality through a clean API and back-end database support to persist booking records;
- end Q1 2024: migration to Kubernetes-based deployment along with OIDC-integrated authentication;
- end Q3 2024: beta-testing GUI-based booking system landing page for the service;
- Q4 2024: fully justified resource request for IRIS RSAP (for 2025 allocation) including checks on partitioning file size/number and ingest considerations for Gaia DR4 data types/volumes;
- end Q1 2025: booking system front-end goes live for the service;
- Q4 2025: continuation RSAP request for DMP operations in the DR4 era;
- end Q4 2025: Gaia DR4.
