Main Menu CP3
The main menu is the first screen the user interacts with when they start the game. Team 6 chose to redesign the main menu to improve a player's first impression of Rocket Potatoes. We wanted the menus to use colours from the game's specified colour palette, and for the style to be 3D isometric. The would make the entire game feel more connected, complete and professional.
We decided to make the main menu a scene of many of the important (and best looking!) characters in our game. This would entice the player and encourage them to continue to interact with the game. Our scene included our characters, enemies and some trees arranged on a grassy patch, facing the camera. The scene was not designed to be on a 30 degree angle to add some variety and help the user differentiate between menu and gameplay. Team 5 created a 3D blender image of the characters with a transparent background which we then imposed onto the background scene. We added the title Rocket Potatoes in font Press 2P Start which is quite box-like so suits the style of the game. We also redesigned the UISkins of all of the buttons in the game to match this scene, making sure they were all legible and in the right position with respect to the main menu scene.
